How to make Teddybear Oat Cookies

These cookies may look like a lot of effort, but they're really straight forward and once you know the steps you realise they are so easy to replicate. Once your cookie dough is ready, follow the steps below and pretty soon you'll be trying these with every recipe.

1. The Head and Body. Scoop a tablespoon of the oatmeal cookie dough for both the head and body and roll them into smooth balls. To assemble lay them next to each other as shown.

2. The Feet and Arms. Split a tablespoon of the oatmeal cookie dough into four for the arms and feet and roll them individually into smaller balls. Position them in the four corners of the body as shown.

3. The Ears. Scoop 1/2 tablespoon of the cookie dough and split this in two for the ears. Roll them into balls and sit them above the head. For added detail snap the curved edge off of a pretzel and push them into the balls for the ears.

4. To decorate. Once baked and still warm lay on the chocolate buttons. Add two giant white chocolate buttons for the belly and the snout of the bear, followed by a small chocolate button for the nose. The warmth of the cookie will melt them slowly, then as the cookie cools the will solidify into place. Add two edible eyes to finish.

Expert baking tips!

  • The best thing about these cookies is that you can make them as full teddybears or stick to the faces only. If you choose to do the faces then you will get double the amount of cookies so these are a great idea if you're looking to bake a large batch for a party or for gifts.
