How to make witches broom pastry:
Making these Witches Broom Pastries is really so simple a they’re such a great treat to make with the whole family.
Roll Out That Pastry: Preheat your oven to 200°C and on a lightly floured surface, roll out your puff pastry until it’s about 1/8-inch thick.
Cut and Assemble: Cut the pastry into strips that are approximately 2 inch wide and 3 inches rectangles. Take one piece and spread a tablespoon of Biscoff across then top with a second piece of pastry. Use a knife or pizza cutter to cut small slits across one side, making sure you don’t cut it all the way, then place a pretzel stick onto the uncut end and roll it up tightly.
Egg wash and Bake: Place your brooms on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the tops of the pastries to give them that lovely golden finish. Sprinkle with some golden caster sugar then bake for 15-20 minutes, until they’re puffed and golden brown.
Expert baking tips!
Get Creative: Don’t hesitate to switch up the filling! Try spinach and feta for a savoury twist or go sweet with chocolate and marshmallow.
Chill the brooms before baking: To ensure the pastries keep their broom shape, chill them in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before baking to allow the butter to firm up again.
Spooky Presentation: For a festive touch, serve them on a black plate or surround them with some Halloween decor like fake spiders or cobwebs.
